Loosey Goosey

My best friend is in town, thus begins the Staycation!

Sammy DiDio is my best friend. We spent the past year together at FSU in a 13×13 foot box University Housing called a living space and became even closer friends than we were when we attended high school together. Her family lives in New York, so she takes the trek down to Florida to go to school and to see me/tan on the beach a couple times a year. We have been separated for three months, but she is mine for the weekend!

We started off our vaycay with an afternoon by the pool- a perfect opportunity for a smoothie! I bring these out to Sammy and ask her to name it. Her reply, ‘A Mango Goose!’. I look at her for a minute and then say, ‘But there are no mangos in it’. Of course we found this hysterical and sipped on our Mango Gooses until the Florida Monsoons forced us inside.

Sammy’s Mango Goose

No frozen fruit for a smoothie? Have no fear! Who doesn’t have popsicles in their fridge over the summer?

  • 2 Popsicles (I used one grape and one lemon Whole Fruit popsicle)
  • 1 Peach – pitted and cubed (Or banana, or mango or… be creative! A mango goose is ambiguous, you can put anything in it)
  • 1 Cup Ice – crushed
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Water
  1. Chop the popsicle off of it’s stick- do this while it is still frozen or else you will have a melty mess!
  2. Combine all ingredients in a blender
  3. Blend
  4. Put in a fancy cup and drink with your pinkie in the air
