About Me

Welcome, Foodies!

Welcome to Collegiate Creative! I’m Rachel, writer and photographer for Collegiate Creative. I started Collegiate Creative in the summer of 2011, a couple months before I moved into a house at school with three other girls. I wanted to share my cooking experiences with my peers, showing how easy it was to stay creative and simple in the kitchen on a college pocket. I study graphic design at Florida State University (Go Noles!) and am working towards a career in the Food Magazine Industry – hear that, Bon Appetit?

Here’s some things you might want to know about me:

  1. I have a puppy named Adobe (as in Creative Suite, I know I’m lame!) and he’s a dorky little black lab/corgi mix! I’m clearly obsessed with him, so get ready for that!
  2. I don’t follow a lot of recipes and I find it difficult to measure super accurately so take my direction with a grain of salt. Or two…?
  3. I’m a semi-vegetarian. I’ll really only eat meat out and very rarely prepare it at home. No ethical issues or anything, I’m just not into it. Although, it is so so difficult to refuse a good pulled pork sandwich with Carolina barbecue sauce. Damn.
  4. I plan on moving to New York City in the next year. After graduation, it’s all about that big ol’ honeycrisp apple (the only decent kind, obviously) and I’m setting my sights on you, Conde Nast!
  5. I adore Chai Tea Lattes, wine, mint, vegetables, the Adobe Creative Suite, Bon Appetit Magazine, movies with funny women, long kindergarten teacher skirts, Drake, typography and really good ice cream.

Read on about my experiences in the kitchen and follow my journey with food, college and life!
